Groundbreaking of the Sta. Barbara Maternity...

Lingayen- - -The groundbreaking of the Sta. Barbara Maternity and Lying-in hospital in Sta. Barbara town last February 8 is an added development to the fruition of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.’s vision to provide local birthing stations for all Pangasinense mothers.

During the occasion, the Governor said that this is a welcome development for the province in its goal to increase the number of pregnant women who will patronize the various government medical facilities to further safeguard their safety and avoid the risks of giving birth at home.

“25 percent labat ed saray ina ed Pangasinan so manaanak ed ospital, say intension tayo, amin ya ina ya malukon kasal man o andi, walay asawa to man o anggapo et diad ospital mananak.” (Only 25 percent of pregnant women in the province give birth in the hospitals. It is our goal that all pregnant women in the province must give birth in the hospitals.) All pregnant women will invariably receive competent care and attention in a government birthing facility according to Gov. Espino.

Also, the Governor instructed all pregnant women who attended the ceremony to inform or get in touch with their Barangay Health Workers or their barangay captain when they are about to give birth so that proper action must be done.

Likewise, he urged them to patronize the upgraded health facilities of the province. “Say first light ya nanengneng na aray anak yo komon et samay siliw diad delivery room na ospital tayo,” he stressed.

All barangays, the Governor said, are now equipped with wireless phones to provide easier access to communication. “The concerned barangay captain will be the one who will contact the hospital so that these pregnant women can be fetched directly from their house to the hospital thru the use of the ambulances that we have earlier distributed to all the government hospitals in Pangasinan,” he added.

This, according to the Governor, is a big relief for the mothers who will give birth via caesarian delivery because they will be provided with immediate transportation on their way to the nearest district or provincial hospital.

Gov. Espino likewise assured all Pangasinenses that the present administration will not stop until they have realized their goal to transform Pangasinan as the healthiest province in the country.

The provincial chief executive awarded P1million to Mayor Reynaldo Velasco as the province’s fund counterpart for the establishment of the hospital. (PIO/Darwin Magalong and Ruby R. Bernardino)
